The Christmas Story in Stained Glass

Thursday 11th December 2008, All Saints Pavement, York, 7.30pm

An illustrated appreciation in words and music of the Nativity Story.  Devised and Narrated by Peter Gibson OBE with organist Phillip Sangwine and the Choir of All Saints Pavement Church.

“The Christmas Story” combines colour slides Peter Gibson OBE has taken of many of the Holy Places, traditionally associated with the events of the Nativity, together with the colour slides of stained glass of all ages illustrating the Nativity story in cathedrals, churches and historic buildings in many parts of the world. This lecture promises a fascinating journey in the world of stained glass – a journey not to be missed.

During his lifetime’s work on the conservation of stained glass, Peter Gibson – has lectured to audiences throughout Great Britain and in Europe, America, Canada, and Israel. He has also appeared on television and radio and has received honours and distinctions from around the world. “The Christmas Story in Stained Glass” was inspired by a visit to the Holy Land where he lectured in St George’s Cathedral, Jerusalem, and also gave a contemplative address, with stained glass as his theme during the service held in the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth.

Tickets are limited and are just £5 and can be purchased by calling 01904 618489 or emailing info@coreyork.org

Light refreshments will be served.  At the request of Peter Gibson the proceeds will go to St Barnabas C of E Primary School’s Bibles for Children project.
